Who is Cherokee-Sports?

Cherokee Sports began in 1993 in a small block building in Spring Hill Tennessee. During the 80’s and early 90’s the archery industry was experiencing double digit growth every year. The Wall Street Journal likened it and its growth, to the sport of golf. Cherokee Sports first product, an archery target repair kit, provided consumers, clubs and archery shops alike, an economical alternative to replacement sections or total target replacement. This first product created a new category by itself and a company was born. As business grew and additional archery accessory items were added, manufacturing was moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

While experiencing growth and bursting at the seams, several moves were made to larger and larger facilities over the years. In 2001, Cherokee Sports moved to its current 40,000 sq. ft location in Columbia, Tennessee. Earlier in 1996, Cherokee Sports developed and patented the first ever electronic self-contained game call. Initially, sound chips were imported and the calls were assembled here. Customers that included: Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Pomida, Miejer’s, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Academy Sports, and the like were soon stocking these items. As trust with its suppliers grew, Cherokee Sports eventually moved this entire project off shore.

In 1998, Cherokee Sports developed and patented the first ever photo-printed inflatable decoy. Once again creating a category all its own. The first year, a Turkey Hen, Canada Goose and Mallard Duck were released. Since that time, an entire line of inflatable photo-printed decoys has been added including: ducks, doves, deer, turkey and cranes, making Cherokee Sports the only company to offer a full line of inflatable decoys.

Now operating in a 65,000 sq. ft production facility in China, Cherokee Sports out-sources very little these days. It has its own machinery, and recently added a state of the art injection molding department. The factory’s goal is high quality, zero defect products, which meet or surpass EN71 and phthalate free international standards; meaning, leaving the smallest environmental footprint, while providing the best product available.

Consumers clamor for Cherokee Sports products and expect to find them on the shelf. Cherokee Sports continues to improve upon and add to its line of products. Keep it new, keep it fresh is one of the slogans Cherokee Sports lives by.
